Estonia submits an application for the launch of art. 4 NATO

Estonia, like Poland after Russian drones exceeded the Polish airspace, decided to submit a request to launch consultation pursuant to art. 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty. The prime minister of the country informed about it.

This article enables urgent consultation between the alliance's Member States. It is about situations in which one of the member countries will consider that its territorial integrity, political independence or security are threatened. This provision allows you to convene high -level conversations to discuss the threats and how to counteract them. It is worth emphasizing that this is not a defense mechanism within the meaning of Art. 5 NATO.
