A Christmas tree located in the Itcani district of Suceava disappeared, just one day after it was decorated and the lights were put on, according to local media.

The people of Sucevan from the Itcani neighborhood had the unpleasant surprise to find that, after the municipality mounted and decorated a Christmas tree in their neighborhood on Friday, the tree placed in front of the “Arta” Multifunctional Center was nowhere to be found.

On the location where he was, the locals found some cetin and some ornaments, reports Monitorul de Suceava.

“A neighbor called me to tell me that the tree is gone. At first I thought it was a joke, but then when I went out to the street I noticed that two big cars had come. They took out the lights, hacked the tree, loaded it and left. (…) It was the only symbol of Christmas here, in Iţcani, because otherwise we don't even have a wire to light up,” a local told the local publication.

Sources from the Suceava Police told News.ro that the tree from the Itcani neighborhood was not stolen, but was picked up by those who had placed it there, after they realized that the tree was big and the support used to fix it was not adequate, the tree risking falling on passers-by.

According to Monitorul de Suceava, the tree will be brought back to the Itcani neighborhood next week.
