Elections in Poland 2050. Ryszard Petru focuses on entrepreneurs and reforms


Petru admitted that replacing Szymon Hołownia as chairman would be a demanding task, but emphasized that the group's mission remains unchanged. He recalled that he joined Poland 2050 with the hope of introducing a qualitative change in Polish politics, thinking about future generations, and not only about the next elections. He expressed his belief that the group had the potential to implement this mission, it only needed greater determination and effectiveness.

“Economic illiterates of the Confederation”
The former leader of Nowoczesna referred to his political experience, recalling how in just a few months he created a formation that won almost 8 percent in the elections. support. He emphasized that his knowledge and practice can help in the further development of Poland 2050.
Petru warned against the growing influence of right-wing narratives and populism in Poland, which, in his opinion, threaten the country's stability. In his opinion, claims that the threat to Poland comes from the West or the European Union are false, and such opinions are spread by both the president, PiS, Confederation and Grzegorz Braun's party. The MP expressed his strong opposition to leaving the economy in the hands of populists and, as he put it, “economically illiterate people from the Confederation.”
Petru wants two trading Sundays
In his speech, Petru assured that under his leadership, Poland 2050 will effectively fight for the implementation of key demands. Among them he mentioned, among others: reducing the health insurance premium for entrepreneurs, sick leave payment by ZUS from the first day, restoring two trading Sundays a month and depoliticizing state-owned companies.
He also announced a fight to regain the support of entrepreneurs and completely cut himself off from potential cooperation with the right-wing. Petru emphasized that the October 15 Coalition, despite its diversity, is the best solution for Poland and there is no alternative to it.
Additionally, Petru presented plans regarding pension policy, including the possibility of earning up to PLN 5,000. PLN per month without tax, and migration policy. He also expressed opposition to organizing abortion referenda.
Petru's story
Ryszard Petru, known for founding and leading the Nowoczesna party, recalled his previous successes. In 2015, his party won 7.6 percent. votes in the parliamentary elections, which translated into 28 seats in the Sejm. After losing the leadership in 2017 and leaving the party in 2018, he returned to politics as an economic expert for Poland 2050.
In this year's parliamentary elections, he ran from the Third Way list, and Nowoczesna, of which he was the founder, was dissolved on October 24 this year and is currently in the process of liquidation. Former members of this party have until June 30 next year to apply to join the Civic Coalition.
