Trump said that talking to Putin “could help bring about an end to Russia's war with Ukraine.” He announced that when the conflict ends, the US and Russia will talk about… expanding trade cooperation.
At the end of the conversation, he said, both leaders agreed meeting of its senior advisers next week.
The first stage will be talks between representatives of both sides. He is to lead the American delegation Secretary of State Marco Rubioalong with other representatives of the administration (they have not yet been named). The location of these talks has not yet been determined.

Trump and Putin want to meet in Budapest regarding Ukraine
After initial talks with advisors Trump and Putin are scheduled to meet in person in Budapest, Hungaryto, as Trump put it, “try to end this 'shameful' war between Russia and Ukraine.”
Trump also mentioned that Putin thanked Melania Trump for her commitment to helping children. According to the former president, the Russian was “very grateful” and announced continued cooperation in this area.

Donald Trump also announced that on Friday he will meet in the Oval Office with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyto discuss his conversation with Putin and “many other issues.”
Trump ended his message on an optimistic note, stating: “I believe today's phone call made a lot of progress.”
It is not yet known whether the Russian side will confirm the content of the conversation in the form provided by Trump, or what exact terms of possible peace negotiations would be considered.
