Trump had a conversation with Maduro, they discussed a possible meeting in the United States – NYT

According to them, the conversation between Trump and Maduro took place “at the end of last week,” and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also participated in it.

As NYT interlocutors told us, during the conversation Trump and Maduro discussed their possible meeting in the United States, but so far there are no such plans.

The fact of the telephone conversation between Trump and Maduro was confirmed by two media sources close to the Venezuelan government.

In October, the NYT wrote that Maduro had offered the United States a significant stake in Venezuela's oil fields, as well as a number of other opportunities for American companies, to ease tensions between the countries. At the same time, Maduro sought to remain in power, the media indicated.

Trump admitted on November 17 that he could have a conversation with Maduro. The Venezuelan President then stated that he was ready for negotiations with the United States.
