The M4 metro line is being extended with 14 new stations. Baluță: “Bucharest will be united on the north-south axis”

The mayor of Sector 4 and also a candidate for the position of general mayor of the Capital announced that next week the design and execution contract for the extension of the M4 metro line will be signed.

The project envisages the construction of 14 new stations between Gara de Nord and Gara Progresul.
“Next week, we are signing the design and execution contract for the extension of the M4 metro line, with 14 new stations between the North Station and the Progresul Station. In a first phase, we will start the design for lot 1, the one between the North Station and the Heroes of the Revolution.
Later, we will also take care of lot 2, between the Heroes of the Revolution and the Progresul Station, so that Bucharest will be united on the north-south axis, having a fast and ecological means of transport at its disposal”, announces Daniel Băluță, the mayor of sector 4, in a post on Facebook.
The actual works, amounting to around €2.5 billion, non-reimbursable European money accessed through “Transport Program” of the European Union 2021-2027, are scheduled to start during 2026 and will last a maximum of five years.
