Traffic restrictions in the Piața Presei passage area, for works on the M6 metro line

The representatives of the Road Brigade announced temporary traffic restrictions, on the night of April 21-22, in the area of the Piața Presei passage, in Bucharest, in the context of the works on the M6 metro line.

“On the night of April 21/22 this year, between 11:00 p.m. and 05:00 a.m., to carry out checks in the framework of the construction work of the M6 metro line, traffic will be restricted in the Piața Presei Passage”, transmit the cited institution.
That is why the Road Brigade recommends drivers to drive with increased attention, to keep a sufficient distance to be able to brake safely.
Also, drivers are advised not to stop or park except in the specially arranged places, to respect the meaning of the temporary road signs, as well as the signals and indications of the traffic police.
Metrorex conveys that the restrictions are necessary for the installation of topographic measurement equipment in the area of the future Montreal Square subway station, on the South Section of the future Highway 6.
“Topographic markers necessary for the structural monitoring of the passage and the constructions in the area of influence will be installed, with the consent of the competent authorities. Outside the mentioned intervals, traffic in the passage will proceed normally.”
The company adds that traffic on the roadway outside the crossing will not be restricted or diverted. To reduce the impact on traffic, the work is carried out exclusively at night.
Meanwhile, the works on Metro Highway 6, towards Henri Coandă International Airport from Otopeni, are progressing on both sections, writes Club Feroviar.
On the southern section (May 1 – Tokyo), the resistance structure has reached approximately 63%, while on the northern section (Tokyo – Otopeni Airport) the progress is 28%.
In the southern area, the TBM drilling machines “Sfânta Maria” and “Sfânta Ana” have made a large part of the tunnels: “Sfânta Maria” has dug 2,358 m and has 476 m to go to Montreal Square, and “Sfânta Maria” has dug 2,006 m and has 828 m to go.
At the station level, works are advanced at Baneasa Airport (82%), Montreal and Exhibition Square (both 76%) and Baneasa Station (73%), while at 1 Mai station progress is 33%.
On the northern section, works are in earlier stages, with percentages between 8% (Brussels) and 35% (Otopeni and Otopeni Airport), while the Ion IC Brătianu station has reached 78%.
The project is carried out by associations of Turkish builders, with the contracts for the two sections being signed by Metrorex in 2022 and 2023.
