Drones attacked Russian Cheboksary. The media reports a strike on a military plant. Video

On the night of November 26, residents of the capital of Chuvashia, the city of Cheboksary, reported numerous explosions, journalists write.

According to a media analysis of a video published on social networks, the drones hit the VNIIR-Progress JSC enterprise on Yakovleva Street, 4, which produces Comet antennas for the Russian army, which protect the drones of the Russian Armed Forces from Ukrainian electronic warfare systems, and a 12-story residential building at 37 Mira Avenue. The video recorded a fire in the VNIIR-Progress area.

“VNIIR-Progress” is part of the production association “ABS Electro”. As stated on the association’s website, “VNIIR-Progress” has many years of experience in the development and production of scientific and technical products, software and hardware systems, automation and control systems, electrical products, components, electronic modules and radio-electronic products,” Astra emphasized.

The head of the Chuvash Republic Oleg Nikolaev has already responded to the incident and confirmed a massive attack by Ukrainian UAVs. According to him, two people were injured, damage to two residential buildings was recorded, and local residents were evacuated. He did not specify what exactly came under attack.

The Russian Ministry of Defense on the morning of November 26 announced the alleged destruction of 33 Ukrainian drones over five regions, but does not mention the Chuvash Republic among them.

Context

This is not the first time VNIIR-Progress has been attacked. After the attack on the night of June 9, it stopped working. The enterprise was then attacked on July 5th. As reported by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the target was the production capacity of the Comet adaptive antenna arrays. They are used in Shahed-type UAVs, Iskander-K missiles, unified planning and correction modules (UMPC) for guided aerial bombs (KAB) and other high-precision weapons, which the Russian Federation regularly uses to bombard Ukraine, including civilian infrastructure.

The Shahed kamikaze drone is an Iranian development of attack drones, which Russian troops use to attack Ukraine every day.
