The head of NATO on the peace plan for Ukraine. “There were good things in it”

— It's good that there is a plan that was discussed in Geneva yesterday. It was a very successful meeting between Ukraine and the US. They will continue talks, said Mark Rutte on Monday, when asked on Fox New whether the originally presented American 28-point plan was “pro-Russian”
The Secretary General of NATO praised the efforts of US President Donald Trump and his team, including the special envoy for Russia and Ukraine, Steve Witkoff. “The plan had to be refined and some elements had to be changed, but there were also good things in it and I think that's what's happening,” he said.

The NATO head did not want to discuss the details of the plan and the issue of security guarantees. He added, however, that some elements of the proposal require separate talks regarding the European Union and NATO. He stressed that the priority for everyone is to ensure that the peace agreement guarantees Ukraine's security against repeated aggression.
— What President Donald Trump is trying to achieve, what we all want to achieve, is lasting peace in Ukraine, a sovereign country. So that the Russians will never, ever even have the desire to try to attack Ukraine again, he stressed.
Last week, Donald Trump's administration presented a 28-point peace plan to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and is pressuring him to accept it by Thursday at the latest. The plan was perceived as playing into Russia's hands, although American officials warn that it may still be subject to changes.
European leaders responded to the US plan on Sunday by presenting their version of the project. The proposal introduces some modifications to the American proposal, including: on limiting the size of the Ukrainian army and assumes guarantees similar to those in Art. 5 NATO.
