The firefighters' spokesman also called for regular inspections of snow cover on roofs, especially commercial and large-scale buildings. He warned that heavy, wet snow could pose a serious threat to building structures, threatening them with collapse.
Despite the intensive work of the services, on Saturday evening, 32,000 households still had no access to electricity. Most of them, as many as 21,000, were located in the Krosno district. The duty officer of the Provincial Crisis Management Center in Rzeszów, Wojciech Czanerle, reminded that just six hours earlier, 75,000 customers in the areas of Krosno, Sanok, Mielec, Rzeszów and Leżajsk had no electricity. He pointed out that the problem is heavy masses of snow that settle on power lines, as well as branches falling from loaded trees, causing damage to the infrastructure.
