Doctor and TV presenter Alexander Myasnikov spoke about the dangers of blood thinning drugs on his channel “Doctor Myasnikov” (16+). If they are used uncontrolled, serious consequences, even death, are possible, he emphasized.
The specialist drew an analogy between these medications and a surgical scalpel, focusing on their dual function: while they have the ability to save lives, they can also cause death if used incorrectly.
“They are like a scalpel: they can perform an operation and save a life, or they can take a life,” the doctor wrote.
He noted that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of deaths from bleeding caused by uncontrolled use of blood thinners exceeded the number of deaths from thrombosis.
In addition, Myasnikov strongly recommends introducing an official ban on the use of the word “thick blood” by medical personnel when conducting blood tests. He is confident that such ill-considered remarks have caused many tragic cases due to self-medication.
