In winter, the skin of the lips especially suffers: wind, frost, dry indoor air, and by lunchtime the lips dry out, peel, and sometimes even crack and bleed. Many people apply the balm every half hour, but the effect does not last long, and the formulations often contain fragrances and preservatives, which only irritate.
But there is an easy way to moisturize your lips all day without greasy balms and chemicals. One light spray of three components, which is found in every medicine cabinet or kitchen, is enough.
You will need:
- water – 2 tbsp. spoons
- liquid honey – 1/2 teaspoon
- jojoba, sea buckthorn or olive oil – 3 drops
Mix everything in a small spray bottle. Apply one light spritz to lips in the morning after cleansing. No need to rub. Just let it dry for 10-15 seconds. Honey attracts moisture, oil creates a protective film, and water gives an instant feeling of freshness.
The product is not sticky, does not shine like gloss and does not leave a taste. At the same time, the lips remain soft even after a walk in severe frost or a whole day in the office with dry air.
The effect lasts up to 8–10 hours. You can repeat it once a day, it is not necessary more often.
Question and answer:
Why do lips dry out in the cold?
Because there are almost no sebaceous glands on the lips, and cold and wind quickly evaporate moisture.
Is it possible to use sunflower oil?
You can, but it oxidizes quickly and can cause irritation. It is better to use stable oils: jojoba, sea buckthorn, almond or extra virgin olive oil.
Do I need to apply it under balm?
No, this spray replaces the balm. If you want double protection, spray on the spray first, let it dry, and then apply a thin layer of fragrance-free balm.
