Former Ambassador of Romania to the United States and former Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Mircea Geoană sent on Thursday, November 20, on his Facebook page, a message of congratulations and encouragement to the new Ambassador of the United States to Romania, Darryl Nirenberg, highlighting the importance of bilateral relations and the Romanian-American Strategic Partnership.
“Congratulations to Darryl Nirenberg for his solid performance at the US Senate confirmation hearings as US Ambassador to Romania! Encouraging messages for the future of the Romanian-US strategic relationship.
As I said at his nomination, I hope we can continue the excellent collaboration from the years in Washington, when we worked to create the political and trust conditions that led to Romania's accession to NATO and laid the foundations of the Strategic Partnership, which I am convinced that from the new position we will be able to take to the next level of ambition”. wrote Geoană on his Facebook page.
We remind you that Darryl Nirenberg, appointed United States ambassador to Romania by President Donald Trump, was heard in the US Senate a day ago, and in his speech he emphasized that Romania is an essential ally of NATO, due to its strategic position, the border with Ukraine and access to the Black Sea, pointing out that these elements give the country a key role within the Alliance.
