According to the government's findings, the perpetrators crossed the border in Terespol immediately after the sabotage, leaving Poland before revealing the details of the event. This information – as government representatives assure – accelerated talks with the Ukrainian side regarding new cooperation mechanisms.
The decision to tighten cooperation was made a few days after two serious railway incidents of a sabotage nature, which occurred between November 15 and 17 on the Warsaw-Dorohusk route.

In the town of Mika in the Masovian Voivodeship, an explosive device explosion damaged a railway track, stopping traffic on an important line leading to the border with Ukraine.

In turn, near the Gołąb station in Puławy County, a passenger train carrying 475 people had to suddenly brake due to damage to the track. The services pointed out that only thanks to the quick reaction of the driver and the efficient action of the railway workers, the tragedy was avoided.

According to the Prime Minister, both the Polish services and their Ukrainian counterparts recognize the need to tighten contacts in the light of recent events in Poland. Tusk emphasized that cooperation will include the exchange of information, joint threat analyzes and coordination of activities in areas that may become the target of sabotagei. Both parties are also to cooperate in terms of protection of critical infrastructure, including key railway routes, the importance of which has increased with the intensification of humanitarian and military transports to the east.
“The aim will be, among other things, to identify people suspected of collaborating with Russia and to prevent acts of sabotage” Tusk wrote on the X platform, pointing out that the cooperation is to be operational and preventive in nature.

On Wednesday The National Prosecutor's Office reported that two suspects have already been charged. As informed by the spokesman for the PK, prosecutor Przemysław Nowak, they concern the performance of acts sabotage of a terrorist nature for the benefit of Russian intelligence against the Republic of Poland. The proceedings are multi-threaded, and investigators are examining whether the saboteurs could have operated within a broader structure organized by the Russian services.
According to experts who have been warning against the activation of Russian sabotage for months, recent events confirm the need for close coordination of the activities of Poland and Ukraine. In an attempt to destabilize the logistics base supporting Kiev, Russia is increasingly resorting to hybrid actions, including infiltration and sabotage of transport infrastructure.
The cooperation announced by Tusk and Zelensky is intended to be a response to these threats. Its aim is not only to more quickly identify and neutralize potential agents, but also to increase the resistance of both countries to destabilization attempts. In the light of recent events, protecting infrastructure and strengthening the common security system in the region remains a priority.
