In Krasnoyarsk, passenger flow monitoring sensors were installed in 118 trolleybuses and trams, the mayor's office reported.
Public transport continued to be equipped with location and occupancy monitoring sensors. Such equipment was installed in another 118 trolleybuses and trams this season. There are 20 Avangard trolleybuses in line. The sensors will be installed there by the end of the year.
This is part of the work carried out within the framework of the national project “Infrastructure for Life” in cities with a population of more than 300 thousand people. It includes the installation of specialized equipment for analyzing traffic flows and special programs in the traffic control center.
Krasnoyarsk was one of the first to begin work on traffic flow management and continues to improve the system every year. This season, another 70 road controllers and 21 adapters were installed on the city’s roads, and 24 pedestrian traffic lights were included in the system, which were equipped with calling displays. The video surveillance and accident tracking subsystem has been supplemented with two video cameras.
The main goal of implementing an intelligent transport system is effective traffic management. This is necessary not only for the convenience of drivers, pedestrians and passengers, but also for the proper use of roads, bridges, interchanges, reducing accidents, and optimizing traffic flows. When fully equipped, the system will ensure maximum road capacity and manage passenger and freight traffic.
Sensors, cameras and other equipment allow you to automatically collect data and send it to a single center for analysis. Special computer programs study this data and make decisions on choosing the optimal operating modes of traffic lights, which at one time or another will ensure the best and safest traffic. With the help of controllers, traffic light modes can be changed automatically. At many problematic intersections in the city, this happens up to dozens of times during the day.
In addition to Krasnoyarsk, intelligent transport systems are being implemented in 24 regions of the country within the framework of the “System-wide measures for the development of road infrastructure” program of the national project “Infrastructure for Life”. In the future, they will be able to analyze and regulate traffic not only within cities and regions, but also between different parts of the country. This year, about 67 million rubles were allocated from the regional and federal budgets for the implementation of projects in Krasnoyarsk.
