The local authorities in Tulcea decided on Monday to evacuate the town of Plauru in Tulcea County, after a ship full of LPG was hit by a Russian drone last night and caught fire, on the Ukrainian bank of the Danube, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations announces.

Up to this moment, 15 people have been evacuated from the Plauru town, who will be transported to the Ceatalchioi town, in spaces made available by the local authorities, stated the IGSU.

“Following the drone attack carried out on the territory of Ukraine, during the last night, a ship loaded with LPG was engulfed in flames in the area of ​​Ismail. Considering the proximity to the territory of Romania and the nature of the cargo, the authorities made a first assessment of the situation”, announces IGSU.

Taking into account the specifics of the materials on board and the possibility of spreading the effects, the local authorities, in coordination with the structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with a role in the management of such emergency situations, decided on the preventive evacuation of people and animals nearby, a measure maintained until the elimination of any risk to the population, states IGSU.

“At the same time, the County Committee for Emergency Situations was activated, for the permanent monitoring of the evolution of the situation and the coordination of all the necessary measures. For the on-site assessment and risk monitoring, a special vehicle from the Fire Department was sent to the area, the crew carrying out reconnaissance, monitoring and operational support missions”, the ISU also transmitted.

MApN announcement after Russia's attack on Ukraine

Previously, on Monday morning, MApN had announced that Russia launched a drone attack on the night of Sunday, November 16, towards Monday, November 17, near the border with Romania, and the inhabitants of the northern area of ​​Tulcea county received a RO-Alert message.

“The radar monitoring and surveillance systems of the Ministry of National Defense have detected and tracked targets that have evolved in Ukrainian airspace, in the vicinity of Tulcea County,” announces MApN.

MApN notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, regarding the establishment of measures to alert the population in the north of the county, in the area of ​​Ismail. At 02.30 a RO-Alert message was sent, the Army states.

According to MApN, following the attack, “no unauthorized intrusions into the national airspace were detected”.

Last night, the Russians attacked many areas in Ukraine. The Ukrainian air force announced several times on the Telegram channel that groups of drones were heading towards the Odesa region, including at 00:30 when they warned that the drones were heading towards Ismail, the largest Ukrainian port on the Danube.

In the Kharkiv region of eastern Ukraine, Russian attacks overnight killed at least three people in the small town of Balakliia.
