Vanatu does not intend to revoke Andrew Tate's citizenship, a government spokesman told The Guardian. He says that the documents of the influencer investigated for human trafficking and rape in the UK and in Romania were verified, but no error was found.
Tate received the “Golden Passport”, after making an investment of at least $ 130,000 in Vanatu, in 2022, when it was preventively arrested in Romania under the charges of trafficking in people and rape.
“They found the files and, according to the registrations, when the father was granted to citizenship, he had been verified by Interpol and the United Kingdom, so this was the decision at that time,” said the spokesman.
After the verification done, the Vanatu government does not currently take other measures to revoke the citizenship of Tate, the spokesman from Vanuatu said.
“The president (the Citizenship Bureau) confirms that, at this moment, he remains a citizen, and for Vanuatu there are no other measures to be taken,” he said.
