A very large amount of evidence has been secured, which will allow for the quick identification of the perpetrators of this shameful act of sabotage, assured the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, Marcin Kierwiński, on Monday. He added that it was secured, among others: monitoring from nearby cameras.

On Monday, the Head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, Marcin Kierwiński, took part in a joint press conference with the Minister Coordinating Special Services Tomasz Siemoniak, the Minister of Justice, Attorney General Waldemar Żurek and the Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak regarding acts of sabotage on the Warsaw-Lublin railway route.

Kierwiński said that two acts of sabotage took place last weekend. One of them, in Mika, has already been confirmed by the services.

– We can say beyond any doubt in this case that an explosive was detonated, which damaged the railway tracks – said Kierwiński.

He added that in the case “very abundant evidence” was securedwhich “will allow certainly verify the perpetrators very quickly this shameful act of sabotage.” He noted that, among other things, monitoring from nearby cameras had been secured, as well as numerous materials and elements that could help identify the perpetrators.

The Head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration also informed that on Sunday at approx. At 9:30 p.m. two more incidents were confirmed. One of them, as he said, was damage to an approximately 60-meter-long power traction on the same railway line. In turn, a few hundred meters away, a metal clamp installed on the railway tracks was found. – The clamp was cut by passing trains. Analyzes of this clamp and the other place are ongoing – he explained.

He assured that “from the very first minutes” all state services were on site and evidence was secured.

Siemoniak: The case is being investigated by the best of the best

The best officers and the best experts from our special services were sent to this case to find the perpetrators, but above all, the principals – said the coordinator of special services, Tomasz Siemoniak, referring to the incidents on the railway.

He emphasized that the probability that this is happening on behalf of foreign services is very high.

– We will ensure that the perpetrators and those who ordered the attack are brought to justice in Poland – emphasized Siemoniak.

He informed that our services have been in contact with the allies since Sunday.

A special team will investigate the matter

On Monday, the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, Marcin Kierwiński, announced that the railway incidents will be dealt with by a team consisting of representatives of the prosecutor's office, CBŚP and the Internal Security Agency.

The head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration announced that the first “information regarding a bang in an unspecified area” was reported to the police by residents of a nearby area on Saturday around 10 p.m.

– The patrol that went there did not identify any damage to the infrastructure, although you should be aware that it was late at night, so police activities in this area lasted from the early morning hours – said Kierwiński.

He said that “the area was also marked off by the police to identify any potential elements that were present in the area, to quickly catch the perpetrators and to check the entire modus operandi of those who caused this to happen.”

– I also want to assure you that in this respect all state services are working together and in full coordination – said the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration. (PAP)

Investigators will initiate an investigation into railway sabotage

Preparatory proceedings have been initiated regarding acts of sabotage on the Warsaw – Lublin route, conducted by the Masovian Branch Department of the National Prosecutor's Office, informed the head of the Ministry of Justice, Waldemar Żurek, on Monday. He added that no one has been arrested in this case so far.

During a press conference devoted to the incident of damage to railway tracks on the Warsaw-Lublin route, Żurek announced the establishment of a special team to coordinate work on this matter. He added that the team consists of two experienced prosecutors who have dealt with this type of cases.

The Minister of Justice said that preparatory proceedings have already been initiated in connection with the incident and are being conducted by the Masovian Branch of the National Prosecutor's Office.

– Two provisions of the Penal Code are involved: Art. 130 pairs 7, which talks about diversion and Art. 174 of the Penal Code, i.e. an attempt to cause a disaster in land traffic – explained the minister.

He noted that the risk in the case of acts of sabotage is very high, and if such conduct is proven, the risk is “from 10 years and up, including life imprisonment.”

– The prosecutor's office will ruthlessly pursue such acts. We warn those who have such intentions towards the Polish state that there will be no place on earth where such a person can hide, said the head of the Ministry of Justice.

The head of the Ministry of Justice emphasized that no one was hurt in connection with the case, and no one has been detained at the moment.

Klimczak: Thanks to vigilance, the threat was avoided

An act of sabotage took place on railway line No. 7, but thanks to the vigilance of drivers and railway services, the threat was avoided. The Warsaw – Lublin line remains operational. Repairs to damaged sections are ongoing, Infrastructure Minister Dariusz Klimczak announced on Monday.

According to the minister's account, the PKP Intercity driver at 6.40 reported an unevenness on the track. The information was immediately passed on by the traffic dispatcher in Dęblin to the driver of another Koleje Mazowieckie train, which stopped at the danger zone.

– There was a warning about unevenness on the track, drawing attention to special caution. All procedures worked, Klimczak said.

He informed that preparations are underway to repair the tracks in the Puławy and Dęblin areas. Work near Puławy Azoty is already underway, and the line itself remains passable. He added that after the services are completed, PLK will start repairing the second track in order to restore full double-track capacity at night.

Klimczak noted that PLK and the Railway Protection Guard are conducting intensified detours and inspections.

– All posts have been reinforced, everyone remains vigilant and cool-headed. Our services will not be scared. This act of sabotage was dangerous, he emphasized.

As he said, employees of PLK, passenger and freight carriers are prepared to respond to similar incidents.

– From the very beginning, all railway services and services of the Ministry of Infrastructure have been cooperating with state services. This cooperation is ongoing and without disruptions, he added.

He recalled that there are approximately 19,000 operations in Poland. km of railway lines, and each section has an appropriately defined supervision and monitoring system. (PAP)
