The creation of a tourism competence center was discussed in the Krasnoyarsk Territory

The Legislative Assembly of the Krasnoyarsk Territory hosted a round table of the State Duma Committee on Tourism on the topic “Tourist potential of the regions: infrastructure development and staffing.”

The participants were members of the regional parliament, representatives of federal and regional authorities, business, universities and professional communities. They discussed the development of domestic tourism.

Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Mikhail Kotyukov noted that the region faces ambitious goals, one of which is to achieve a 60% increase in tourist traffic. According to the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, since the beginning of 2025, tourists have made 123 million trips, their daily expenses have increased by 9.5%: the total amount of expenses is estimated at 1.4 trillion rubles. Such results were achieved largely thanks to the national project “Tourism and Hospitality”.

But the development of tourism infrastructure often lags behind demand. In many regions there are not enough hotels, convenient access roads and comfortable places where travelers could get acquainted with natural and cultural attractions. The issue of staffing the hospitality industry remains important: the shortage of workers in tourism exceeds 300 thousand people. At the same time, every year Russian universities and colleges graduate up to 276 thousand specialists in specialized fields, but only every fourth of them is employed in their field.

The round table participants proposed specific measures. For example, it is necessary to establish direct communication between employers and educational organizations to train in-demand personnel, increase the prestige of tourism professions and improve working conditions in the industry. Joint investment and infrastructure projects with the participation of the state, business and regions are of great importance. The proposals developed will become the basis for the committee’s recommendations for further improvement of state policy in the field of tourism.

“In the near future, a center of competence for training personnel in tourism has appeared in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. It should have a wide profile, including not only catering, but also hotel business, transport logistics, and tour operator services. It is important that the Siberian Federal District has its own center, where both competencies and those people who want to work in the field of tourism could flock. Today we heard the agreement in principle of the deputy corps of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the Ministry of Science and Education and the Ministry of Economic Development. “We got all the likes, figuratively speaking, that we needed to get on this topic,” said Sangadzhi Tarbaev, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Tourism and Development of Tourism Infrastructure of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

“For the development of tourism, personnel are needed, our region has something to share here, our experience is connected with the gastroinstitute. This is a project that has few analogues in the world. We set an ambitious goal: the region should become a center of competence that not only trains specialists, but also tells how to organize training in the tourism industry for the entire country. I am glad that at the meeting there was support from the federal authorities,” summed up the chairman of the committee on sports, youth policy, tourism and development of the social environment of the Legislative Assembly of the region, Alexander Novikov.
