According to the message read by the foreign minister Yvana Gila, American sailors entered the Venezuelan tuna on board and detained it for eight hours. The Venezuela government assured that Łódź was “harmless”.
The tensions between Washington and Caracas increased when last week the US army sunk another boat flowing from Venezuela in the Caribbean Sea, killing 11 members of its crew. According to the American authorities, illegal drugs were smuggled to the USA.
The administration of US President Donald Trump did not provide too many details about this operation, despite the requests from the Congress to justify the attack. The Venezuela government, however, claims that none of the 11 killed people belonged to the Tren de Aragua gang, as the authorities announced in Washington.
