Stephen Austad, who has dedicated his life to researching healthy aging, doesn't believe in “eternal life,” but he does follow two simple habits every day to keep him healthy. The scientist spoke about this in an interview with Business Insider (16+).
Scientific director of the American Federation for Aging Research, Dr. Steven Austad, has spent his career studying healthy longevity, but admits he has never been obsessed with the idea of living forever. He criticizes many modern trends, but he himself adheres to two simple, science-based habits.
Dr. Austad, a malaria survivor who suffered a knee injury from a lion bite, notes that he does not take questionable food additives and enjoys the occasional glass of wine. He believes physical activity is the key to a quality life and healthy sleep.
His priority is serious daily training. Austad admits to being a “gym regular” and spends up to two hours exercising every day.
Due to an old knee injury, he chooses an exercise bike for cardio exercise. Also be sure to use muscle groups for strength training. Austad admits that without quality physical activity he sleeps poorly, and the fatigue after a workout helps him fall asleep quickly.
“I am, in fact, physically exhausting my body into submission,” the researcher explained.
