On November 10, the law on supporting families with children was sent to Zelensky, and four days later it was returned with the president’s signature.
The payment increases will take effect from the beginning of 2026.
In particular, the law defines assistance for pregnancy and childbirth (7 thousand UAH), assistance at the birth of a child (50 thousand UAH one-time), assistance for caring for a child up to one year (7 thousand UAH), “Baby Package” and “Schoolchild Package”.
If two or more children are born, assistance is provided for each child separately.
Context
Now in Ukraine, upon the birth of a child, parents are entitled to UAH 41,280. A one-time benefit is paid in the amount of 10,320 UAH, the remaining amount is paid over the next 36 months in equal parts, 860 UAH per month.
In March, First Deputy Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Daria Marchak reported that the international population reproduction rate is 2.2 children per woman of childbearing age, but in Ukraine this figure is only 0.9 after the start of a full-scale invasion – and this is an anti-record in the history of the country.
