Witnesses reported that during the flight the Russian-made SSJ100 (Sukhoi Superjet) part of its metal casing came off, and the engine on the right side lost parts of its casing. The plane belongs to the airline “Rossiya”.
Authorities said the landing went off without a hitch at 9:00 a.m. local time.
“The prosecutor's office for transportation in Primorye will evaluate the activity of the Vladivostok airport technical services that prepared aircraft for flight“sent the representatives of the institution.
According to the Svodka25 channel, the passengers had to wait for the arrival of a backup aircraft from Vladivostok.
Some of them stated that they did not intend to board an SSJ100 plane again after the incident and would continue on their way to Blagoveshchensk on their own. No one was reportedly injured during the incident.
Following the incident, the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a preliminary investigation for a possible violation of aviation safety rules, according to Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
The investigation will establish the circumstances and causes of the incident.
