The US ambassador in Warsaw criticizes EU regulation. “This is a moment for Poland”

In February, the European Commission proposed a package of simplifications of EU regulations, the so-called Omnibus I. Its aim is to reduce the regulatory and administrative burden on EU businesses in the area of the so-called sustainable development (ESG).
In practice, ESG reporting means that companies document and disclose how they act to benefit the environment and society. On Thursday, the European Parliament supported reducing reporting obligations and requirements for companies, with 382 votes in favor, 249 against and 13 abstentions.

What role can Poland play according to the US ambassador?
The US ambassador in Warsaw spoke on this matter. “It is difficult to imagine a single legal act that would be more precisely aimed at killing jobs, stifling innovation and causing a wave of flight of American companies from Europe than the EU Omnibus package on simplifications in the area of sustainable development,” the diplomat pointed out.
The US ambassador's reaction. “Donald Trump is closely monitoring the situation”
“If this destructive growth and investment bill becomes law, the damage to American investments in Europe will be enormous. It will impose unprecedented reporting burdens, expose companies to very severe legal consequences, and enable Brussels to further micromanage supply chains, balance sheets and investment decisions,” wrote the ambassador, adding that “Donald Trump is closely monitoring this situation.”
According to Thomas Rose, this is “the moment for Poland to take the leadership position.” “By taking up the role of a proud leader and leading an uncompromising, pan-European opposition to this bureaucratic monstrosity, Poland can stand shoulder to shoulder with President Trump in defense of economic growth, competitiveness and common sense,” we read in the post.
“The impact on Polish-American relations would be undeniable”
“Europe desperately needs real leadership, which Poland is ideally placed to provide. Today, Poland has a unique opportunity to step into the forefront of European leaders by leading a determined, public campaign against this destructive EU legislation,” commented the ambassador, adding that Poland's firm stance could create a continental coalition for economic common sense.
According to the diplomat, the impact on US-Polish relations would be undeniable. “No one will be more committed to strengthening them than President Donald Trump. This is Poland's opportunity to defend jobs, innovation and economic freedom in Europe and the United States,” he concluded.
