In Krasnoyarsk, the court began considering criminal cases against the organizer of underground casinos and his accomplices. This was reported to the regional prosecutor's office.
According to the supervisory authority, in July 2022, 35-year-old Maxim Cherepanov organized gambling in the basement on Alekseeva and Petra Podzolkova Street. He attracted at least 38 people to work. The underground establishments operated with all the features of a real casino: they had slot machines installed, a video surveillance system, and order was ensured by staff.
The cameras made it possible to monitor the work of the dealer and quickly “resolve” controversial situations between players.
“To avoid the attention of law enforcement officers, the business organizer carefully observed secrecy. Information about the games was distributed through closed mailing lists in instant messengers. It was possible to get inside only by invitation or guarantee from regular players,” the prosecutor’s office said.
In October 2023, the activities of the criminal group were suppressed. During the investigation, the four defendants entered into pre-trial cooperation agreements with the prosecutor.
The prosecutor confirmed charges against 36 accomplices for illegally organizing and conducting gambling outside the gambling zone (Part 3 of Article 171.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and sent the criminal cases to the Central and Sovetsky district courts of Krasnoyarsk for consideration on the merits.
The state prosecutor announced charges against the organizer; the next court hearing is scheduled for November 20.
Two accomplices have already been sentenced to suspended imprisonment for a period of 1.5 and 2 years. 2 more are serving in the military, and 1 is wanted.
