In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, auto framers who illegally received more than 22 million rubles were brought to trial, the regional police reported.
Seven criminals staged road accidents for two years and then illegally received compensation from insurers.
“Each participant was assigned responsibilities depending on their role: searching for places and cars to commit an intentional accident, taking direct part in an accident, selecting people to register cars or sales contracts for them, photographing and video recording what is happening, organizing the registration of an incident on the spot and at the State Traffic Inspectorate, repairing vehicles. They also found those who worked in the insurance company to monitor the progress of processing applications and receiving payments. At the same time, the cars were predominantly of the executive class – Audi, Mercedes, BMW, Toyota Camry,” the police said.

In May 2023, operatives of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the region, with the force support of special forces soldiers, detained the attackers. To the police managed to prove about 50 episodes of illegal activity with total damage of more than 22 million rubles. In total, at least 96 vehicles were used by enterprising citizens to initiate accidents.
“The investigator of the Investigative Committee of the State Investigative Directorate of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region initiated and investigated a criminal case under Part 4 of Art. 159.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Having considered the materials of the criminal case presented by police officers, the court sentenced the accused depending on the role of each in criminal activity – from a fine of 50 thousand rubles to eight years in prison. The verdict has not entered into legal force,” the press service said.
