Invited to the new season of the Fanatik Exclusiv show, moderated by Horia Ivanovici, Daniel Băluță addressed both topics related to his administrative activity and personal aspects. Asked directly about his monthly earnings as mayor of Sector 4, the mayor answered without hesitation.

“As a mayor, the salary is 17,800 or so lei per month. It has decreased by 10% following the provisions of these austerity ordinances. I have earned a bit more so far”said Băluță, stating that the decrease in income was imposed by the measures adopted at the governmental level.

In the show, the discussion also reached the ratio between the salary of a mayor and the responsibilities of the position. To the moderator's observation that the amount does not reflect the workload and pressure related to public office, Horia Ivanovici pointed out:

“I, for 3,000 euros, would not get involved. We will never compete. I am not talking about the common man, normally for a common man a salary of 17,800 lei is good. But for all the responsibility of a mayor…”.

In response, Băluță explained that he cannot minimize the importance of income, but it is not the only motivating factor.

“It's not hypocritical to say that it doesn't matter how much I earn. Money in life is very important, but it's not everything.” the mayor emphasized.

He added that the position also brings satisfactions that cannot be quantified strictly financially: “It's really a responsibility, but it's also very satisfying. You know that life is made of many components, by the way of that pyramid of needs. It's extremely important the income you have, every human action is based on motivation. People probably often ask themselves 'but why are you doing this?'”.
