The captain of the national team of Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo (40 years old), laughed when he heard about the possibility of scoring the goal number 1000 of his career right in the final of the World Cup in 2026.

Having reached 953 goals scored in his career, Cristiano Ronaldo has repeatedly stated that he still has two goals: to reach the milestone of 1000 goals scored and to represent Portugal at another edition of the World Championship, the one in 2026.

Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't think he'll score 1,000 goals in World Cup finals: 'You watch too many movies'

At the press conference ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifier away to Ireland, Cristiano Ronaldo was asked about the possible scenario in which he would manage to score the 1000th goal of his career in the very final of the final tournament, and the Portuguese star started to laugh.

You guys are watching too many movies! It's too perfect to happen. Let's get back to reality! Of course, all these figures make me happy. The national team never depends on just one player, but these statistics remain very positive.

I just want to play in the next World Cup, otherwise I wouldn't be here. Let's go step by step. But if it still happens, it would be a good sign and I would end my career in a great way,” answered Ronaldo, according to sportal.bg.

Cristiano Ronaldo started his career at Sporting Lisbon, and in 2003 he was making the move to the Premier League, at Manchester United, after the “red devils” paid 19 million euros for the Portuguese footballer.

After 6 seasons at “Old Trafford”, during which he won numerous trophies, including a Champions League and 3 Premier League titles, Ronaldo was transferring to Real Madrid. Together with “Los Blancos” he won 4 Champions Leagues.

A 3-season stint at Juventus then followed, a season-and-a-half return to Manchester United, and then a move to Al-Nassr in early 2023.

Holder of 5 Golden Balls, Cristiano Ronaldo also has 3 trophies with the Portuguese national team, a European Championship in 2016, and two Nations Leagues, in 2019 and 2025.
