Patzaichin, Hîldan and Discobolul are moving » We found out where the statues from the Dinamo Sports Complex end up

A sentimental dilemma made his supporters think Dinamoin the month in which the first bulldozers would enter the complex in Ștefan cel Mare for demolition. What will happen to the statues in the Sports Park, once the actual works start? Will they be maintained in the future configuration of the arena?
January 19 is approaching, the day designated by the CNI for the start of the demolition of the “old Dinamo”, and the fans of the “dogs” are asking themselves all kinds of questions regarding the new configuration of the stadium, also related to the landmarks of the club's soul, part of the red-white folklore.
Well, GSP.ro learned that they will be dismantled, temporarily stored and relocated in the new complex, which is estimated to be ready by 2028.
From the sculpture of Ivan Patzaichin, continuing with that of Cătălin Hîldan and the other monuments depicting the heroes of the Sports Club, the complex in Ștefan cel Mare road includes several statues loaded with meanings for the dynamoist movement.

The legends from Dinamo's “Olympus” take pride of place in the complex
The statue of the legendary canoeist Ivan Patzaichin, unveiled as a sign of gratitude in 2002, sits right in front of the stadium, the sculpture becoming a symbol of all Dynamo fans. Before, on that site was the Discobolu, later moved near the multipurpose hall.
Behind the South Lawn is another important monument, the one erected in memory of the “Unique Captain”, Cătălin Hîldan, who died prematurely in October 2000. This was also inaugurated in 2002, two years after the tragic disappearance of the former Dynamo midfielder.
In addition to the two, several other statues marking traditional symbols of the Sports Club complete the collection of monuments. They are present on the alleys inside the complex:
-
rotary: sculpture which was originally the symbol of the Dinamo stadium and which is now located inside the complex (it used to be at the entrance) as part of the monument collection. It is named after the discus thrower.
-
Statue of “Sulitas”: next to the Discobolus, another sculptural element that is part of the set of statues dedicated to athletes, more precisely the javelin thrower
-
Another statue representing an athlete, a weightlifter specializing in wrestling/weightlifting, less publicized than the other figures in the complex.

“Unfolded and stored at CS Dinamo”
What will happen to all these sculptures? Gazeta got in touch with officials of CS Dinamo, but also with representatives of the National Investment Company.
The bottom line? “Dogs” supporters can rest easy: the statues will be disassembled and stored in a special place during the demolition and relocated later, when the works take shape.
“We are relocating the statues in the courtyard. There are already places established by the project, including relocation is part of the project“, said Ionuț Popa, president of CS Dinamo, questioned on the subject by Gazeta Sporturilor.
A person at the top of the CNI assured in turn, contacted by GSP: “They will not be lost! They will be dismantled and come down from the plinth, and then they will be stored at CS Dinamo. Later, they will be replaced. The same was done with the statue of Oblemenco at the stadium in Craiova.”

The start of the works, marked by a symbolic event
It's settled! The club will organize an open event that will symbolically mark the start of work on the new stadium, implicitly the start of the demolition of the stadium in Ștefan Cel Mare.
CS Dinamo officials are planning a symbolic event for the “dogs” fans to say goodbye to the arena where Dinamo played from 1951 to 2022. According to the statements of Ionuț Popa, supporters will be able to take a souvenir from the “Pit”, but not seats, as these must be inventoried by the CNI.
After years of procrastination, the CNI announced on December 24, 2025 that the works on the new Dinamo stadium can officially begin on January 19, 2025. Thus, the equipment is expected in the “Pit” immediately after the “dogs” match in the Superliga with U Cluj,
The complex will be classified in the 4th category (ex-“Elite”) according to the UEFA classification, with a capacity of approximately 25,000 seats, changing rooms (hosts, guests, referees, ball children, auxiliary staff). The complex in Ștefan cel Mare will also have boxing rooms with three rings, weightlifting, judo, wrestling, gymnastics, fitness and fencing, changing rooms and related spaces for staff, training camps, for spectators, for the press, TV broadcasts, storage and other technical spaces related to building maintenance.
