Pro-Russian hackers calling themselves NoName057(16) claimed responsibility for Wednesday's attack on the websites of five Danish municipalities. A few days ago, the same group disrupted the digital operations of other public entities, including the state-owned railways.

The perpetrators stated on Platform X that they were “continuing to walk around Denmark.” They mentioned that they managed to overload the websites of municipalities such as Ishoej, Tarnby, Gentofte, Roedovre and Rudersdal near Copenhagen. Two companies also suffered damage – a telecommunications company and a publishing house.
The same group on Saturday attacked the website of the municipality of Vejle on the Jutland Peninsula, several other offices, as well as the website of the Danish state railway DSB.
Just at the end of last week, three Danish agencies, including civilian and military secret services, issued a statement in which they warned of the risk of hacker attacks by pro-Russian groups. Their increased activity is said to be related to the elections to municipal and regional councils scheduled for November 18 in Denmark. At the same time, it was assessed that cyberattacks are intended to cause concern, but will not affect the voting process or the determination of the results.
Denmark's Minister for Social Security and Preparedness Torsten Schack Pedersen admitted on Wednesday that “further attacks from pro-Russian groups should be expected.” – We did the right thing not to introduce digital elections and to keep the ballots, admitted Schack Pedersen.
According to Europol, cybercriminals from the NoName057(16) group working on behalf of Russia targeted primarily Ukraine, as well as countries supporting this country fighting the Russian invader, including Denmark.
