Donald Trump attacks the mayor of New York. “Week against communism”

The proclamation dated November 7 stated that the “week against communism” lasted from November 2 to 8. White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt posted a link to its content on her account on X on Monday.

The document states, among other things, that this is to be a week reminding us of the “destruction caused by one of the most destructive ideologies in history.” It was noted that “for over a century, communism has brought nothing but ruin.”

“America rejects this vile doctrine”

“New voices now repeat old lies under the guise of phrases like 'social justice' and 'democratic socialism,' but their message remains unchanged: Surrender your freedom, trust in the power of government, and trade the promise of prosperity for the comfort of control,” the proclamation reads.

“America rejects this vile doctrine. We remain a country founded on the eternal truth that freedom and opportunity are the rights of every human being and that no ideology, foreign or domestic, can destroy them,” it added.

Mamdani, who describes himself as a democratic socialist, won the November 4 mayoral election in New York on behalf of the Democratic Party.

The day after Mamdani's victory, Trump warned that “people will flee from communism in New York.” The president repeatedly called Mamdani a “communist” and threatened to cut off some federal funding for the metropolis if he won.
