Zelensky answered whether he is afraid of Trump and recalled the situation with cards in the White House

The Financial Times reported that Trump swore during a meeting with Zelensky on October 17, repeatedly repeated the theses of the illegitimate president of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, and I didn’t look at the maps of the front line in Ukraine, and at some point I threw them aside altogether.

According to Zelensky, this did not happen. He stressed that their relationship with Trump is “normal, businesslike and constructive.” The head of the Ukrainian state said that the delegation from Kyiv presented the Americans with three stands with a consistent action plan to increase pressure on Moscow (from the supply of weapons to the expansion of sanctions).

Zelensky also noted that everyone in the world is afraid of Trump, but Ukraine is not one of them.

“We are not America's enemies. We are friends. So why should we be afraid?” – said the head of the Ukrainian state.

The President emphasized that he respects the choice of the American people who elected Trump, and said that the United States remains a strategic partner of Ukraine. According to him, Kyiv and Washington share common democratic values, in contrast to “imperialist” and revisionist Russia.

Context

On October 16, the Russian Federation initiated a conversation between Putin and Trump, the Kremlin reported. They, in particular, discussed “the issue of possible supplies of long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine.” Afterwards, Trump noted that he intended to hold a meeting with the illegitimate Russian president in Hungary.

On October 17, during a meeting with Zelensky at the White House, Trump said he hoped to end the war “without thinking about Tomahawk.” Zelensky said that they decided not to discuss the transfer of these missiles to Kyiv yet, because the United States “does not want escalation.” Trump also called on Ukraine and Russia to conclude a peace agreement and “stop where they are.” Zelensky agreed with this.

The media wrote that the meeting between Trump and Zelensky allegedly gave Putin the “green light” to continue the war in Ukraine.
