The EU is preparing the 20th package of sanctions against Russia. Zelensky: “There will be news about the kidnappers of Ukrainian children”

The European Union is working on the 20th package of sanctions against Russia, which should be completed “within one month”, announced on Sunday, November 9, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The announcement comes just weeks after the 19th package of measures against Russia was approved on October 23, targeting Russian banks, energy revenues and networks involved in evading existing sanctions imposed as a result of Moscow's war against Ukraine. The new European restrictions also affect cryptocurrency platforms and banks in Russia and third countries that facilitate the circumvention of sanctions, according to the Kyiv Independent publication.
Zelensky stated that Ukraine will propose that the new package include additional measures against “Russian legal entities and individuals who continue to exploit energy resources”.
“There will also be news of the Ukrainian child abductors – this must be met with truly global pressure. And of course there must also be substantially increased pressure on all schemes that enable Russian military production. This is vital.” said the Ukrainian leader.
The 19th sanctions package was temporarily blocked by Austria, Hungary and Slovakia.
Also on November 9, President Zelensky's office announced that Ukraine had imposed new sanctions against eight senior Kremlin officials, including special envoy Kirill Dmitriev, but also against five Russian publishing houses, accused of “crimes against Ukraine and Ukrainians”.
The measures were a direct reaction to recent sanctions imposed by Moscow on some Ukrainian officials, including Prime Minister Yulia Svîrîdenko.
