A negligent attitude to fire safety rules led to the death of two people in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. This was reported to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the region.
On the evening of November 9, a residential log house caught fire in the village of Lokshino, Uzhur district. The flames damaged the veranda, walls, roof of the house and the tractor that was parked in the yard. The total area of the fire was 135 square meters. The fire was extinguished by 10 employees of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations and 3 units of equipment. While extinguishing the fire, rescuers discovered the bodies of a 47-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman.
According to preliminary data, the owners of the house died because they hung rags over the stove to dry, which ignited. A man and a woman suffered carbon monoxide poisoning. Investigators began an investigation into this fact.
“Currently, verification measures are being carried out aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident. Forensic and fire-technical examinations have been appointed to establish the exact cause of the fire and the death of the victims. Based on the results of the inspection, a procedural decision will be made,” the Sledkom explained.
The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds that a flooded stove should not be left unattended. It is also not a good idea to allow the oven to overheat, or to dry things on or over it. The chimney should be kept in good repair for safety reasons.
Earlier in Achinsk, a man died in a fire due to violation of safety rules when operating a stove.
