Israel's accusations against Lebanon

According to the truce concluded at the end of November 2024, the government and the Lebanese army were to take control of the south of the country, which had been controlled by Hezbollah for many decades. The Shiite organization fought wars with Israel, the agreement ended the last of them, which broke out with the war in the Gaza Strip.

Israel accuses the authorities in Lebanon of insufficient commitment to disarm Hezbollah. The group's military potential was significantly weakened during the last war, but Israel says Hezbollah is rebuilding its capabilities.

In recent weeks, the Shiite militia received hundreds of rockets smuggled through Syria, refurbished some of the missile launchers destroyed in the war and recruited thousands of new members, Israeli TV KAN reported, citing a message sent by the Israeli military to the Lebanese authorities.

The Lebanese government previously reported gradual progress in disarming Hezbollah in the south and plans to completely confiscate the organization's weapons throughout the country. However, the Shiite group opposes these intentions and warned the government in Beirut not to succumb to “aggressive blackmail” by Israel.
