PiS president Jarosław Kaczyński announced on Friday a “press conference campaign” in front of hospitals regarding the situation in the health service, which – as he assessed – is a crisis. According to the head of PiS, the money allocated for health care is insufficient.

In his statement to the media on Friday, Kaczyński argued that we are dealing with a crisis in the health service, and “in a significant number of hospitals, planned actions are not being taken at the moment, and there are places where this concerns oncological diseases.”
PiS begins a campaign of press conferences in front of hospitals
In the opinion of the PiS president, the money allocated for health care is insufficient. – We can only react in one way – we are starting a campaign of press conferences in front of hospitals because we simply want the society, which is today very often and, unfortunately, effectively disinformed, to know what it really is like – said Kaczyński.
Former Minister of Health in the PiS government, Katarzyna Sójka, said that together with another PiS MP, Michał Moskal, she was at the Ministry of Health on Friday “to find out (…) what was the reason for the then minister (Izabela) Leszczyna to cancel and throw away a transparent competition that was supposed to allocate PLN 4.2 billion for strategic hospitals throughout Poland” in the field of oncology.
In March this year, Leszczyna announced that as part of the competition for oncological treatment, 102 hospitals would receive money from the National Reconstruction Plan (KPO). According to Sójka, the entities that are to benefit from this competition “are practically 95% of the same entities that were selected two years ago.”
As he explained in February this year Deputy Minister of Health Marek Kos, competition established by the Ministry of Health in 2023. during the term of office of PiS, it was canceled due to the CBA inspection, which was then extended. Kos added that, therefore, in 2024 it was not possible to sign contracts with hospitals for funding. As he said then, “a clear decision had to be made: to cancel the competition and announce another one.”
Domański poured in money
On Friday, at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, a meeting was held between the Minister of Health, Jolanta Sobierańska-Grenda, and the Minister of Finance and Economy, Andrzej Domański. The Ministry of Health announced that as a result of talks with the Ministry of Finance, it was agreed to provide additional support for the National Health Fund in the amount of PLN 3.5 billion. The Ministry of Health emphasized in the announcement that the expected support will be sufficient to secure financing of benefits until the end of 2025. (PAP)
