Motorcyclist filmed from helicopter while making 13 illegal overtakings. The huge fine he has to pay

A motorcyclist who was filmed from a helicopter repeatedly breaking traffic rules has been fined 16,000 lei and banned from driving for more than two years. In just a few kilometres, the man was caught making no less than 13 irregular overtakings, including on pedestrian crossings and over the solid line.

The incident took place on October 25, on DN1, between the towns of Negreni and Huedin, in Cluj County. Footage captured by the video camera of a traffic monitoring helicopter shows the motorcyclist engaging in risky overtaking, disregarding road markings and safety rules. At one point, it even exceeds in the area of a pedestrian crossing, violating the axis of the road, marked with a solid line.
According to the Cluj Police, the motorcyclist was identified as a 39-year-old man from Târgu Mureș.
“In his name, 13 contraventional sanctions were applied, in the total amount of approximately 16,000 lei, and as a complementary measure, the suspension of the exercise of the right to drive for 780 days was ordered”IPJ Cluj transmitted.
The representatives of the institution remind drivers that irregular overtaking is one of the main causes of serious road accidents.
“Observance of road markings and overtaking rules is essential for road safety. The solid line indicates areas where overtaking is prohibited due to poor visibility or high accident risks”, the police officers from Cluj emphasized.
