Director Brett Ratner, the creator of the film “Melania”, appears in the recently released files of the investigation into sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, published by the US Department of Justice.
One of the leaked photos shows Ratner sitting on a couch next to Epstein. The director embraces the young woman and, together with Epstein, smiles at the camera. The faces of the woman and another person in the photo were blurred.
The published photo immediately raised numerous questions. Ratner is wearing a white shirt and jeans and is sitting very close to the unknown woman, hugging her.
To Epstein's left sits another young woman. It is not known when the photo was taken or who the people whose images were hidden are.
No charges were brought against Ratner based on this photo, but its publication came at an extremely unfavorable time. It coincided with media reports about the alleged “chaos” on the set of the film “Melania” — the director's first major project since 2017.
The film “Melania” itself, about First Lady Melania Trump, wife of US President Donald Trump, met with very mixed reception. Critics largely razed the production, while some viewers praised it for its patriotic tone.

Despite lukewarm reviews, the film was a financial success – it made almost a profit on its opening weekend 7 million euros (over PLN 29 million).
The Amazon platform acquired global licensing rights for EUR 34 million (approx. PLN 143 million), and allocated an additional EUR 30 million (approx. PLN 126 million) for promotion.
Scandals still haunt him
Brett Ratner, known, among others, from the “Rush Hour” series, has remained a controversial figure for years.
In recent years, he was removed from many Hollywood productions after… several women accused him of sexual harassment. The director has not yet commented on the re-revealed photos with Epstein.

This is not the first time that his name has appeared in this context – photographs have already been published in which Ratner was seen in the company of other controversial figures, including: the late modeling agent Jean-Luc Brunel.
No guilty parties despite the evidence
At the same time, Epstein's new files, although shocking in their content, did not result in any legal consequences. After their publication, the US Department of Justice announced completion of further action on this matter. In Washington, Deputy U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche said no further indictments were planned.
While analyzing Epstein's files, we found nothing that would justify initiating criminal proceedings
– Blanche said in an interview with the American station CNN. As he noted, all documents are now publicly available and everyone can analyze them for themselves and “assess whether the ministry has made a mistake.”
At the same time, Blanche admitted that the content of the documents was extremely difficult to bear. — The files contain many drastic photos that were apparently taken by Epstein himself or people from his closest circle. However, the mere fact of their existence does not automatically mean that it is possible to hold anyone criminally liable, he emphasized.

A scandal that shocked the elites
For many years, Jeffrey Epstein ran an organized sexual abuse ring. According to investigators, dozens of young women, including minors, were the victims of the American multimillionaire.
The disclosed files include the names of famous and influential people, such as former US President Bill Clinton, Tesla CEO Elon Musk and King Charles III's brother, Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. In 2019, Epstein, while in custody, was found dead in his cell at the age of 66.
The range of published materials is enormous. The files include, among others: e-mail correspondence, court documents, medical opinions, as well as thousands of photos and videos. Donald Trump's name also appears in the documents, but there is no evidence indicating his involvement in Epstein's criminal activities. The president consistently denies any connection with these practices.
Despite the enormous public interest and the importance of the disclosed materials, the Department of Justice sees no grounds to take further legal action. On Friday, January 30, the last batch of investigative files was published. Todd Blanche stated that his ministry had thus fulfilled all its obligations. However, the debate surrounding the Epstein scandal will probably not die down for a long time.
Attention: The mere appearance of an individual in photographs or documents contained in the Epstein file does not mean that inappropriate or criminal behavior can be attributed to him or her.
