The work on the “Heroes of Timișoara” stadium, the modern arena that is being built in the west of Timișoara, is advancing rapidly. It was visited by Răzvan Burleanu, the president of the FRF.

Dominic Fritz, the mayor of Timisoara, announced that the construction site of the new arena was visited by Răzvan Burleanu.

In the same post, the mayor provided more details about the state of the works. It is 70 percent complete, and work is currently underway on the stands. The arena will be ready in 2026.

“Yesterday I was with the president of the Romanian Football Federation, Răzvan Burleanu, on the site of the new arena we are building in Timișoara. The works are 70% done. Next year, the stadium will be ready.

We both agreed that infrastructure is the key to the revival of football in Timisoara. We discussed how the Federation supports developing clubs and I thank them for their openness to contribute technical expertise, for various facilities at the stadium, including a sensory room for people with neurodivergence.

The president of the FRF is in our city on the occasion of the TMFF – Timișoara Football Film Festival, the first film festival about football in Romania and Eastern Europe, which we finance,” the mayor wrote on Facebook.

The arena will have 10,101 seats, and the construction is carried out strictly from local funds. The costs will amount to 23 million euros. It will be category 4, according to UEFA and IFAB requirements, and will be able to host international competitions

Timișoara will soon have an ultramodern stadium, but the city does not have a football team that can perform at the level of the first two leagues in Romania. Politehnica Timișoara takes second place in series 7 of the 3rd League.
