When the garden is already covered with the first frost, and the neighbors have ended their summer season, your tomatoes can continue to bear fruit. The secret is in the special November fertilizing, which was used by Soviet agronomists to prolong the fruiting of greenhouse crops.
What to feed tomatoes in November:
- Wood ash (1 cup per bush): potassium for ripening;
- Bone meal (2 tbsp per plant): phosphorus for roots;
- Boric acid (1 g per 1 liter of water): protection against rot;
- Yeast infusion (100 g per 5 liters of water): growth stimulator.
How to fertilize correctly:
- Dissolve the components in warm water (30°C).
- Water the bushes at the root level at the rate of 1 liter per plant.
- After 2 days, apply foliar feeding to the leaves.
- Insulate the roots with a 5 cm thick layer of humus.
To protect tomatoes from autumn frosts, you need to make several layers of cover. First, place arcs over the beds and cover them with film: it will keep warm at night. Cover the ground with straw or pine needles to prevent the roots from freezing. Add spunbond on top: it allows air to pass through, but not cold. Place barrels of water in the greenhouse: during the day the water will heat up in the sun, and at night it will warm the plants.
Will the roots burn from feeding?
No, if you water on wet soil and follow the dosage.
What temperature is critical for tomatoes?
+5°C, at lower temperatures plants stop growing.
Is it possible to use nettle infusion?
Yes, but only in combination with potash fertilizers.
