Lua, a pit bull mix adopted by Brady and his ex-wife Gisele Bündchen, died in December 2023. After losing the pup, the former athlete adopted another dog, Junie, who resembles Lua.
On November 4, Brady revealed that Junie is, in fact, a clone.
The announcement coincided with news that Colossal Biosciences had acquired Viagen Pets and Equine, a biotech company that has also cloned other celebrities' dogs, including Barbra Streisand's dog Samantha and Paris Hilton's dog Diamond Baby.
Brady recounted how the trial unfolded. “I love my animals. They mean everything to me and my family. A few years ago, I worked with Colossal and turned to their non-invasive cloning technology using a simple blood sample taken from our elderly dog before he died. The company gave my family a second chance with a clone of our beloved dog. I'm excited about how Colossal and Viagen's technology can help both families who lose their beloved pets and rescue species in danger of extinction”, the athlete told, according to People.
Lua has been a big presence in the Brady-Bündchen family and has appeared in numerous social media posts as well as a 2014 Ugg Australia ad.
