FCSB and Universitatea Craiova have found out which teams of referees they will have for Thursday's European matches.
The Albanian Juxhin Xhaja will referee the match between Basel and FCSB, while the Slovenian Martin Matosa will referee the match between Rapid Vienna and the University of Craiova.
FCSB, meeting with the Albanian referee
The Europa League match between Basel and FCSB will be led by Albanian Juxhin Xhaja. The match will take place on Thursday, from 19:45, on St. Jakob-Park in Basel.
In the last two years, the Albanian refereed two games of the Romanian champion. On August 3, 2023, the Bucharesters beat CSKA 1948 Sofia 3-2, at the Arc de Triumf Stadium in Bucharest, in the second leg of the second preliminary round of the Europa Conference League. On December 12, 2024, FCSB tied a match with the German team Hoffenheim, 0-0, in the sixth stage of the Europa League. Both games were refereed by Juxhin Xhaja.
He also led Craiova University, in the match won 2-1 on the field of the Istanbul Başakşehir team, on August 21, in the Conference League play-off.
After 3 matches played, FCSB ranks 28th in the Europa League league stage, with 3 points obtained.
A Slovenian will lead the Craiova University match
The match in the Conference League phase between Rapid Viena and Universitatea Craiova will be led by the Slovenian Martin Matosa. The match will take place on Thursday, from 22:00, at the Weststadion in Vienna.
It will be the first time this season that the Slovenian will officiate a match in the Conference League phase.
Matosa has not yet refereed a team from Romania in European competitions.
After 2 matches played, the University of Craiova occupies the 29th place in the Conference League phase, with 1 point obtained.
