The first ceremony of presenting the “Honorary Donor of Russia” badge this year took place in Krasnoyarsk. On February 1, 24 Krasnoyarsk residents received a state award for long-term regular donation of blood and its components. According to the Ministry of Health, this time a total of 46 people became honorary donors in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

The ceremony was opened by Alexander Polees, Deputy Chief Physician of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Blood Center No. 1:

“A donor is a person who gives his blood, and with it health, to the patient. When saving the life of another person, giving a piece of himself, everyone must remember that he will only benefit if his blood is safe. Only a healthy person can be a donor!” – said Alexander Polees.

He also noted that thanks to regular donors, medical organizations in Krasnoyarsk and the region are now 100% provided with donor blood and its components.

Let us remind you that the “Honorary Donor of Russia” badge is a state award established by the government of the Russian Federation. It acts as a form of recognition by the state of a citizen’s gratuitous contribution to the development of blood donation.

In order to become an honorary donor, you must donate free of charge:

  • 40 or more times whole blood;
  • 60 or more times plasma;
  • whole blood 25 or more times and plasma 40;
  • whole blood less than 25 and plasma 60.

In this case, the donation of blood components such as red blood cells, platelets and granulocytes is equivalent to the donation of whole blood.
