The Romanian U21 national team was defeated by Hungary, 19-31 (10-13), in a match in the classification phase of the World Handball Champion. The tricolors will fight to occupy the 15th position.
In the main phase, Romania had an extremely difficult mission in front of Denmark and France and, even though for a period they kept their chest, the result was the same: defeat at 7 goals.
As a result, Adrian Petrea's students remained to play in the fight for 13-16 places, and the first opponent was Hungary. Yet, The Hungarians defeated the South American national (29-24 vs. Brazil, 36-31 vs. Argentina), but lost with the European ones (21-22 vs. Austria, 33-37 vs. Norway, 31-37 vs. Slovenia).

Romania, a second nightmare in front of Hungary
However, this time, Hungary started excellent and dominated the first half. However, in the end, Romania managed to reduce the difference to 3 goals, 10-13, enough to increase their morale in relation to the second half.
With the thought of Remontada from the confrontation with Northern Macedonia, the tricolors have returned better from the locker rooms and reduced the difference to a single goal, 12-13. After a few minutes of cutting, in which none of the two camps scored, followed a nightmare for Romania.
The defense did not work at all and, in the attack, although Petrea's students threw at the gate, the blows did not reach their target or were defended extraordinarily by the Hungarian goalkeeper. Hungary dominated, scored 6 consecutive goals and hit a partial of 10-1, ensuring its victory.
Finally, our neighbors prevailed with 31-19, administering Romania the hardest defeat from the World Championship. The tricolors will fight for the 15th place, where they will meet the loss of the confrontation between Japan and Switzerland.
Hungary had no less than 14 scorers, while the Romanian leaders were Andrei Oancea (4 goals) and Daniel Stanciuc (4 goals).
