Minister of Justice, Attorney General Waldemar Żurek admits in an interview with “Super Express” that he does not trust Zbigniew Ziobro. In his opinion, the former minister of justice, who faces up to 25 years in prison, may try to escape from the country. Żurek emphasizes that “the law must apply to everyone – including Ziobro.”

“The charges against Zbigniew Ziobro include, among other things, his founding and leading a criminal group. The court will also take into account the fear of escape. Looking at how Marcin Romanowski behaved, I somehow do not trust Zbigniew Ziobro,” said Minister of Justice Waldemar Żurek.

He added that the amount of punishment Ziobro faces may be one of the reasons for his provisional arrest. Żurek mentioned the risk of severe punishment and fraud as other grounds for arrest.

“I would like the public to be able to read the evidence in this case and assess whether it confirms his guilt. Everyone should see that the system works efficiently,” he noted.

The minister emphasized that Zbigniew Ziobro has immunity, therefore “can move wherever he wants”.

When asked about the possibility of President Karol Nawrocki acquitting the former Minister of Justice, the head of the Ministry of Justice said that he “expects political pardons”.

We saw what President Duda did with Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik. If President Nawrocki goes this route, I will show arguments and society will judge for itself whether the president is helping to defend organized criminal groups or whether he is actually the guardian of the constitution, said Żurek.
