The origin of the conflict
It is unknown when exactly and on what basis the conflict between the sisters arose. However, back in 2019, Olga Sumskaya stated that they had grown apart from each other, and the reason for this was the acting profession.
“I won’t say that they are so distant, it’s just how life develops. Natalya has her own thoughts. Perhaps some events in the country were influenced by political moments. Well, not without that. But I think the most important thing is that we are representatives of such a wonderful acting dynasty, one of the most famous in Ukraine,” she said then.
Retrospective of a quarrel
At the end of 2024, Olga Sumskaya stated that the estrangement with her sister began after the series “Roksolana” was aired on UT-1 in the late 1990s.
“Natalochka is my second mother. She brought me to the set – I owe everything to her. And then something happened. Not now, a long time ago. It started after “Roksolana” – some kind of alienation began. But for me she is always the first in the profession – write about it. Unsurpassed, the most talented and most beautiful actress in the world,” said Olga Sumskaya.
Criticism of each other
In 2021, Natalya Sumskaya confirmed that she does not call her sister, since Olga’s every step can be seen on social networks.
“There are many wonderful events happening around us that affect us. We work in the same industry, we have certain priorities and lifestyles. Obviously, it’s different, this lifestyle,” she noted.
In response, Olga accused her sister of being old-fashioned and advised her to be more modern – register online and “keep up with the times.”
“We are very different in character. Natalya is more closed, she has her own life, her own space. She never covers any events, but I am more active and sociable,” my sister commented on Natalya Sumskaya’s criticism.
The view of supporters of the conflict
At the celebration of the 88th birthday of the mother of the Sumsky sisters, Ukrainian actress Anna Opanasenko-Sumskaya, Natalya Sumskaya was not in any of the photos or videos. Then subscribers paid attention to this, and a large barrage of criticism arose online against Olga, who allegedly “crossed out her sister from her life.”
Is there truth here?
Olga Sumskaya in 2024 was outraged by the criticism and noted that no one knows the truth. But she is actually “ready to communicate with her sister,” whom she continues to love.
“Recently, the awarding of the Shevchenko laureates, the Franco Theater, a full hall of people. Full house. Everyone is already sitting, someone is approaching. I have an invitation, I enter the hall from the left. Natalya Vyacheslavovna, Rima Zyubina and a full hall of people are sitting. “Hello,” – everyone says hello, the sister does not turn her head. And everyone sees this. How does this feel to me? Well, you can at least nod, or what? It hurts,” admitted the actress.
Who should call first?
On Christmas Eve 2024, Olga Sumskaya shared that she periodically calls her sister on the phone, but did not specify whether Natalya answers her calls.
“I’m waiting for this call. If it comes, I’ll be happy,” the actress replied.

At the beginning of 2025, Olga Sumskaya shared that she resumed communication with Natalia, but the sisters never sat down at the family table.
“We just communicate, that’s all. We should never accumulate negativity. It’s a very scary, responsible time. What are we passing on to our children and grandchildren? This is very important. I dream of getting together at the family table. This is my dream,” she added.
Reconciliation or “is this a dream that can no longer be dreamed?”
In the summer of 2025, Olga Sumskaya noted that a dream forced her to improve her relationship.
“I go and meet the priest. I say: “Bless him, father, for good deeds.” I give him my hands – and suddenly two more hands. I turn around – and this is Natalya. Some kind of amazing, wonderful dream,” said the actress.
She added that she doesn’t communicate with her sister the way she would like.
“All this is very difficult. Because when the portal is closed, no matter how you try to impose your feelings, but they are not heard, then it is very difficult,” Olga Sumskaya commented on her relationship with Natalya Sumskaya.
Context
Olga and Natalya Sumsky are sisters. Their parents are actors Anna Opanasenko-Sumskaya and the late Vyacheslav Sumskaya.
Olga Sumskaya is the younger sister. She was born on August 22, 1966 in Lvov. Natalya – April 22, 1956 in Katyuzhanka, Kyiv region.
Both Olga and Natalya Sumsky are laureates of the Shevchenko Prize, People's Artists of Ukraine.
