Journalist Alexandra Bayazitova was denied parole. She will have to spend another three and a half years in the colony – until November 2028.
In 2023, the author of the blog “Hell's Grandmas” was sentenced to five years in prison for extortion. The investigation believes that, together with her partner Olga Arkharova, Bayazitova extorted money from Promsvyazbank top manager Alexander Ushakov – 1.2 million rubles for the absence of negative publications. Alexandra did not admit her guilt.
Bayazitova already asked for a pardon in October 2024. Relatives believe that she may not live to see the end of her imprisonment – she has diabetes, hypertension and glaucoma. Plus – a sick dependent mother. But, despite this and the calls of the Human Rights Council to replace the preventive measure with house arrest, Bayazitova was never approved for parole or pardon. Unlike the same actor Efremov, who caused death through negligence, repeatedly violated the regime in the colony, but still deserved the opportunity to be released.
