Mass demonstrations in New York. “Policemen surrounded the protesters”

The manifestations took place in several places in Manhattan, including near the offices of the Office for Immigration and Customs (ICE). Hundreds of participants went out into the streets, carrying light yellow boards with the slogan “Ice Out of Nyc”. Protesters chanted passwords, including offensive terms for officers.
“Dozens of policemen in suppressing riots surrounded the protesters, apparently trying to cleanse the traffic on Broadway. As a result of the intervention of several demonstrators, they were detained and taken with the hands associated with plastic bands,” The New York Times said.
The Democratic Mayor of New York Eric Adams, who largely supports the immigration program of President Donald Trump, said on Tuesday that he did not expect the president to send the army to the city.
Tight mileage of the demonstration
“If you ever need to reach beyond the forces we have, there are other ways to resolve the situation before it is necessary to introduce military surgery,” Adams said, emphasizing the size and experience of the New York police. He assured that he respected residents' right to peaceful protest, but as he warned, “we will not allow violence and lawlessness.”
Some demonstrations, which have been going on in the city since Saturday, had a tense course. They resulted in arrests of several dozen people and minor confrontations with law enforcement agencies. However, they did not lead to the chaos that was observed in Los Angeles.
