Arugula has become my favorite dinner: I add 5 simple ingredients and the salad tastes better than in a restaurant

Arugula on its own is a little bitter, but when you add a couple of simple ingredients, it turns out to be a light, juicy, and delicious dinner. This salad can be prepared in five minutes, and it looks like it was served in a good restaurant.

Here's what will do:

  • Parmesan – it is better to cut it into thin petals with a knife or vegetable peeler. Grated is also suitable, but the petals are prettier and more interesting in taste.
  • Pear or apple – cut into thin slices. They add sweetness and juiciness that goes well with the bitterness of the arugula.
  • Nuts: almonds, pine or walnuts. A handful is enough. They can be lightly dried in a dry frying pan to create a slight crunch.
  • Lemon and Honey – Grate some lemon zest directly into the salad, add half a teaspoon of honey and a tablespoon of olive oil. This will be your dressing.
  • Sea salt – a pinch of coarse salt on top. It helps all tastes come out.

How to assemble the salad:

Place the arugula on a flat plate. Top with pear slices, Parmesan and nuts. Pour over butter with honey and zest, sprinkle with salt. Serve immediately while the leaves are crisp and the cheese has not started to melt.

This salad is good on its own, or with chicken, fish, or just with a piece of warm bread.

If you don't eat dairy products, you can replace Parmesan with toasted pumpkin or sesame seeds.

This dish does not overload the stomach, is quick to prepare and always turns out delicious.

Question and answer:

Is it possible to season arugula with yogurt or sour cream?
No, fermented milk dressings make the leaves limp and weigh down the taste. It is better to use a light emulsion of oil, lemon and honey.

Is it possible to prepare arugula salad in advance?
No, it is better to assemble just before serving. Even after 10-15 minutes, the leaves will begin to lose their crunch and darken from the acid.
