The Munteanu government took the oath in the presence of Maia Sandu: “To complete the transformation of the Republic of Moldova”

The Cabinet of Ministers led by Alexandru Munteanu took the oath of office on Saturday in the presence of the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, and the President of the Parliament, Igor Grosu. The ceremony took place a day after the vote of confidence granted by the deputies.

One by one, the 14 ministers, the two deputy prime ministers and the prime minister took the oath of office in the presence of the leaders from Chisinau, Maia Sandu and Igor Grosu. The ceremony took place at the Presidential Administration.

“Thank you to President Maia Sandu for the trust given to me. It is an honor to be able to contribute to the development of our country in this new position. We will work responsibly for the good of all citizens of the Republic of Moldova”, said the head of the Cabinet of Ministers from Chisinau, Alexandru Munteanu.

The new Government of the Republic of Moldova has 14 ministries. The position of Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization will be held by Eugen Osmochescu, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development – Vladimir Bolea, Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration was appointed Cristina Gherasimov, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs – Mihai Popșoi, and Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration – Valeriu Chiveri.

Also, the Ministry of Education will be headed by Dan Perciun, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry will be headed by Ludmila Catlabuga, the Ministry of Internal Affairs by Daniella Misail-Nichitin, the Ministry of Energy by Dorin Junghietu, and the Ministry of Justice by Vladislav Cojuhari. Adrian Gavriliță will take over the leadership of the Ministry of Finance, Natalia Plugaru – of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, and Emil Ceban – of the Ministry of Health. Anatolie Nosatîi will return to the head of the defense ministry, Cristian Jardan to the culture ministry, and Gheorghe Hajder to the environment ministry.

The messages of the first people in the state

The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, emphasized that the Executive must meet the expectations of the people: “continuation of reforms, maintenance of peace and determined advancement on the European path of the Republic of Moldova”. And the government team takes over a mandate “at a decisive moment for the country, when decisions must be taken with maximum responsibility, and the results – to be visible to the people”.

“After the years in which we had to manage multiple crises and challenges, we need, starting today, a government that focuses more on development, that will complete the transformation of the Republic of Moldova into a modern European state”President Maia Sandu detailed.

At the same time, Maia Sandu emphasized that there is a need to accelerate economic development.

“We need courageous measures to ensure the development of the economy by attracting investments, by increasing competitiveness and productivity — because that's the only way we can improve people's living standards. In front of you is a country that needs trust and results. I wish you work power, wisdom in decisions and unity in action. May it be a good hour and may you be successful in everything you do for the good of the Republic of Moldova and its people”. concluded the leader from Chisinau.

Igor Grosu, the president of the Parliament, as well as the leader of the government, also came with a message.

“Today, a new chapter begins for the Republic of Moldova. Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu and his team set out on the road with a clear mission – to complete the transformation of the Republic of Moldova. Together we have a duty to the people who have given us their trust: to be the generation that takes Moldova where it belongs — in the European family. In a good hour!”, said the leader of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS).

On October 31, the Munteanu Government received the vote of confidence of the Moldovan elected officials, in a meeting that lasted over five hours. From the Legislature's podium, Alexandru Munteanu spoke about a Government oriented towards economic growth, greater efficiency and European integration.

The Munteanu government received the vote of confidence of the 55 Moldovan elected representatives, being the deputies elected on the lists of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS).

The Alternative Bloc, the Socialist Party of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM), the Communist Party of the Republic of Moldova (PCRM) and the non-affiliated deputy Vasile Tarlev did not vote.

88 elected members out of a total of 101 participated in the meeting regarding the vote of confidence for the new Executive.
